Sponsored by the United States National Cancer Institute, the HPV-Automated Visual Evaluation (PAVE) study is one of the largest consortial cervical cancer screening projects ever conducted. Cambodia has been selected as one of 10 international sites to enroll 10,000 women employed at garment factories.
The aim is to validate a cervical screening-triage-treatment strategy for resource-limited settings, translating our contemporary understanding of HPV natural history and cervical carcinogenesis into prevention.

Launched in 2014, the Austere Environments Consortium for Enhanced Sepsis Outcomes (ACESO) is a prospective observational cohort study of adult patients with suspected sepsis in Cambodia. The study is being conducted at a provincial hospital with the aim to improve early recognition, diagnosis and effective treatment of severe sepsis from all causes.
Three women’s research studies have been conducted with Sihanouk Hospital Center of Hope. These studies have helped to understand the prevalence of cervical dysplasia and breast cancer and suggest modifications for a new screening strategy.
